No matter what story is said about her origin one thing is for sure that she is considered to be the goddess of knowledge and wisdom. You will find her holding lotus in one hand this signifies true knowledge. Goddess Saraswati also holds the Vedas in one hand and carries a veena.
The goddess Saraswati is always dressed in a white colore Shree. It is said the veena she plays the music of love and life. The goddess Saraswati is seen rising a big Swan. This swan signifies purity....

Vasanta Panchani or Saraswati Puja is a popular Hindu festival dedicated to the goddess of Learning Saraswati, who is deity of knowledge, music and art. She is generally shown seated on a white lotus.
  • Saraswati Puja In Eastern India: In the Eastern part of India like West Bengal, Tripura, Odisha, Bihar And Assam Saraswati Puja  is celebrate in Mugh month (January to February). It coincides with Vasanta Panchami that is the fifth day of a bright fortnight of the lunar month of Mugh. Children place their books near the goddess Saraswati's statue. That day children never read books, that day is called ' No study Day'.
  • Saraswati Puja in South India: In the southern part of India like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andra Pradesh Saraswati Puja is as known as Navaratri. Navaratri literally means 'Nine Nights' but the actual celebrations continue during ten days, which is considered an Vijaya Dashami or the Victorious 10th Day. Navaratri starts with the new moon day of the bright fortnight of the Sarad Ritu (Autumn) during September to October. The festival celebrates the power of the feminine aspect of divinity or shakti. the last two or three days are dedicated to Goddess Saraswati in South India......

Ingredients Required for Saraswati Puja
Saraswati Puja is celebrated in the month of Mugh (January to February). This festival in mainly celebrated in Eastern religion and it is mostly celebrated in School, College, Club etc.
Many Ingredients are needed to curate a proper Saraswati Puja:
  • Idol of Goddess Saraswati - Getting hold of a Saraswati idol is very cumbersome.
  • Shodashmitrika - This is an important part of the Puja. Puja will not happen without it.
  • A White cloth - A white cloth is needed for any hindu puja.
  • New Graha Asana - It is needed which the goddess will be placed.
  • Dhoop and Aggarbatti - Its needed for every puja to make the atmosphere pious.
  • pancha Ratna - It is dust of precious stone that are required for puja. It is offered to the goddess as an offering. 
  • Flowers and Mango leaves - These are the common part of any puja like Saraswati puja.
  • Puja Thali - It is needed to place all the offerings in it and offer to the Goddess Saraswati Maa.

How to Celebrate Saraswati Puja in West Bengal
Maa Saraswati, considered the deity of music, culture and learning was worshipped acroos West Bengal with traditional gaitey and religious fervour. Girls and women decked up in traditional bright yellow Saris signifying Basanta Panchami. Boys and man ware Kurtas and offer flower to Maa. Plum and tapioca fruit are offerd to the goddess and among the sweets puffed rice, jaggery and yogurt are also offered to the Maa Saraswati. After puja pepole offered Prashad to all. This day all children celebrate No Study day. They offer their book to Maa. They participated in caltural programe in school, college, locality or club. Idol of the goddess were seen with a  cresent moon on the brow, ridiing a Swan or sat on a lotus. The next day of puja is called Visarjan, in this day of image is immerssed in the local pond or river. Then everybody waiting for the next year....
